Cosmonautics day | Valentina Tereshkova and Yuri Gagarin in Mexico (English version) By Giselle Bourgoing (Ledesma, 2022) Today, April 12th, we commemorate Cosmonautics Day because of the first space voyage by cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. That is why today we will remember the interview that the cosmonauts, Valentina Tereshkova and Yuri Gagarin, gave to Radio UNAM during their visit to Mexico, my home country (Archivo Sonoro, 2018).  It is important to point out that during the famous space race, on April 12th, 1961, the USSR managed to send the first man into space, Yuri Gagarin, who would become the first cosmonaut (United Press International, 1961). Día de la cosmonáutica | Valentina Tereshkova y Yuri Gagarin en México Por Giselle Bourgoing (Ledesma, 2022) Hoy 12 de abril se celebra el día de la cosmonáutica, conmemorando el primer viaje espacial, por el cosmonauta Yuri Gagarin. Es por esto que el día de hoy recordaremos la entrevista que los cosmonautas, Valentina Tereshkova y Yuri Gagarin, brindaron a Radio UNAM en su visita a México (Archivo Sonoro, 2018).  Recordemos que durante la famosa carrera espacial, el 12 de abril de 1961, la URSS logró enviar al primer hombre al espacio, Yuri Gagarin, quien se convertiría en el primer cosmonauta (United Press International, 1961). Por qué creé esta página | Por Giselle Bourgoing (National Aeronautics and Space Administration, 2022) Cuando estaba en la primera semana de mi primer año en la facultad de derecho, recuerdo que un compañero de mi carrera se sentó a mi lado en clase y me preguntó en qué quería especializarme. Creo que soné demasiado segura de mí misma cuando dije que quería especializarme en derecho espacial internacional. Y digo que tal vez soné demasiado segura porque cuando dijo: “¡Wow! Pero… ¿Qué es eso?” Tampoco lo sabía al 100% en ese momento.  Sin embargo, traté de explicarle cómo el derecho espacial regula las actividades humanas en el espacio, como el uso de equipo militar, telecomunicaciones y la no apropiación del espacio ultraterrestre, según el artículo II del Outer Space Treaty. Why I made this page | By Giselle Bourgoing (National Aeronautics and Space Administration, 2022) When I was in the first week of my first year of law school, I remember that a classmate sat next to me in a seminar, and asked me what I wanted to specialise in. I think I sounded a bit too confident when I said I wanted to do international space law. And I say that I perhaps sounded overconfident because when he said, “Awesome! But… what is that?” I also did not know 100% at that time.  Nevertheless, I tried to explain to him h ow space law regulates human activities in space like the use of military equipment, telecommunications satellites, and the non-appropriation of outer space according to article II of the Outer Space Treaty.  To be completely fair, at the time I knew about the last one because of the film “Aloha” with Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, and Bradley Cooper where the US government is trying to take native Hawaiians' land for space militarisation (Crowe, 2015).
